Apopka business networking group celebrates two-year anniversary

Posted

It seems like only yesterday a small group of business people started meeting for breakfast, and from that get-together, a larger network emerged and kept the monthly meeting going for two years.

The Apopka Business to Business Meet & Greet was founded in March 2015 by local businessmen Harold Koppe, of Allways Promo, and Glen Savill, from China Import Services. The two felt there was a need for local businesses to meet regularly to share ideas and network in the Apopka area. Bubbalou's BBQ is where they have met since their first meeting, and monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 8.30am.

The Meet and Greet has grown considerably over the past two years as word got out and according to Savill, “attendees have included business people, city officials, and interested citizens. We welcome anyone that would like to join us.” In addition to networking, the meetings also offer businesses an opportunity to introduce themselves to the group, make a full presentation over breakfast or just exchange contact information.

With help from Dexter Chase of We Insure on Facebook, the group has grown to over 200 unique visitors over the past two years. Dexter says “it’s a great way to introduce your business to other local people and build relationships that lead to growth without the requirements and limitations of a formal networking group”.

Debbie Turner of the Debbie Turner Cancer Care and Resource Center states that “Through this organization, our services have been provided to 3 additional families and many participants have added support to our fundraising events. I even had my home remodeled by Ron at Enfinger Services.”

The group has a Special Guest Speaker at the next meeting, Tuesday, March 7th to celebrate its two-year anniversary. Nancy Muenzway currently serves as the Director of Business Opportunity Programs for the Lake-Sumter State College and consults with the East Lake County Chamber of Commerce who has also been a great resource for the group.
