Stolen Golf Cart Recovered

Posted

The Apopka Police Department has been telling us for months to "Lock your car doors." The warning applies to golf carts as well.

On Wednesday night at approximately 8:00 PM Octavio Roca thought he heard a strange noise outside his home in Errol Estate. But he did not go outside to check it out. Yesterday morning, when he went to use his golf cart it was gone.

"I usually take the key out of the cart," he told The Apopka Voice. "But I did not do it last night."

Octavio's golf cart, which he uses in his painting business, was found Thursday morning about a mile from his home, abandoned in the grass median of Errol Parkway. The key was missing.

The weekly burglary report published by The Apopka Voice shows the high number of vehicle burglaries. According to the Apopka Police Department these are primarily "crimes of convenience," where the criminal simply checks to see if the car is unlocked.

The moral of this story; "Lock your doors and take your keys."
