State of the City address this morning

Posted

What is the state of Apopka?

Like most things, it depends on who you ask.

Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer will attempt to answer that question when he delivers the State of the City address this morning at 8AM at the Highland Manor, 604 E. Main Street in Apopka.

"It’s a look-back and a look-ahead," said Kilsheimer. "It sums up the past year and tells residents what to expect in the coming year."

Kilsheimer announced the State of the City at Wednesday's City Council meeting and promised "surprises". Those surprises will not be known until Kilsheimer takes the stage and delivers this historic speech. The content, surprises, and announcements will be unveiled then.

This is the second State of the City address delivered by Kilsheimer, who is also the author of the speech. Last year he spoke for 35 minutes, laying out his accomplishments while in office and his vision for the future. The approximately 5,000-word address touched on several issues including business in Apopka, municipal government, public safety, city finances, grants, economic development, The City Center, The Highland Manor, growth, education, and even the environment.
