Ministerial Alliances plan Gospel Music Festival

The Apopka Faith, Family & Food Gospel Festival slated for January 7th

A month ago, the idea of a City-funded Gospel Fest was turned down by the Apopka City Council at their October 5th meeting. The proposed date of November 12th date concerned the commissioners who believed the event would be too rushed.

Two weeks later, The Apopka Christian Ministerial Alliance and The South Apopka Ministerial Alliance resurrected the idea under a new name - The Apopka Faith, Family & Food Gospel Festival.

According to Pastor Hezekiah Bradford, President of both Alliances, the two groups applied for a permit for the Festival on Wednesday, October 19th afternoon for the event scheduled to he held on January 7th, 2017. The application is on the agenda for tomorrow's 9:00 AM Development Review Committee meeting.

The groups are holding a planning meeting for the event today at Noon at Word of Life Church. Pastor Bradford and Pastor Richard King sent out an email yesterday with the following invitation:

"Please be advised that in the spirit of inclusion, we are inviting all faith leaders, community leaders and concerned citizens to provide input during the gospel planning meeting. Pastor Morgan has been gracious in providing the use of his church for this meeting which will take place tomorrow November 1st. at noon sharp, we have planned for a 90-minute meeting, however, as everyone can see based on the attached document, we plan on being out early in respect of everyone’s time. Once again, this is intended to be a community event, one that we all can take personal pride and ownership of, so we encourage your participation over lunch. We are still inviting community leadership to sit on the Organizing Gospel Planning Committee, so if you are interested, please respond to this e-mail and we will incorporate your leadership in the planning process and documents."

"This is not a city project," said Bradford at the October 19th City Council meeting. "It should be a community project... and let me take it a little further... I think the government should be run by the people and not vice versa. I think you should involve people into the program."
