Main Street McDonald's raising funds for Sanjay's funeral

Posted

Sanjay Nandram, was killed Sunday morning when he was struck by a car while standing on the shoulder of the Florida Turnpike. His loss is devastating to his father and three sisters, but he is also being mourned by his Apopka "McFamily."

"Sanjay was a wonderful member of our Apopka McDonald’s team," said Reshma Worrell, manager at the Main Street Apopka McDonald's. "He was a senior at Apopka High with a plan to go to college and become a registered nurse. Sanjay’s mother, who also worked at this McDonald’s, died earlier this year. We support the Nandram family in thoughts, prayers, and financial assistance."

Sanjay"No donation from concerned customers and Apopka residents is too small and will be appreciated," said Worrell. " All donations will benefit funeral expenses."

According to Worrell, Sanjay came to work at the Apopka Main Street McDonald's shortly after his mother died of a heart attack. "He wanted to help his father support the family," said Worrell.

A few months ago Sanjay's father, Mohabir, started working part-time at the restaurant. "He has a full time job at Florida Hospital and worked here on his days off there" according to Worrell.

Donations are being accepted at the counter inside the Main Street McDonald's as well as at the drive-thru window.
