Isadora Dean receives two endorsements

Isadora Dean, a candidate for the District 7 seat of the Orange County School Board, announced she received two endorsements over the weekend from the Central Florida AFL-CIO, and the Democratic Disabilities Caucus. Dean is running against incumbent Christine Moore, challengers Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Laura Rounds. District 7 includes all of Apopka.

On the endorsement, Eric Clinton (President of the Central Florida AFL-CIO) wrote:

“On behalf of the Central Florida AFL-CIO I want to congratulate you on earning the endorsement of our members. We take a great deal of pride in the candidates we support. That’s because we see our endorsed candidates as part of the team fighting for Florida’s working families. I know you see yourself as part of that team too."

“I am honored to be endorsed by the Central Florida AFL/CIO,” said Dean. “If elected to the School Board, I know that every student can learn and deserves a good education. I will fight for better schools and support working families. An endorsement from this prestigious Union has created more enthusiasm in our campaign and will help get our message of...getting back to the basics to ensure student success...out to the voters.”

Dean was honored to receive the DDC endorsement as well.

“I am proud to be endorsed by the Democratic Disabilities Caucus. My experiences as a classroom teacher who held certification in Exceptional Student Education, a writer of IEP's for high school students, and a parent show my commitment to create barrier-free, inclusive, and diverse schools; especially for those with visible and invisible disabilities. “

Dean is the wife of Apopka City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Billie Dean. Election Day for the District 7 seat is August 30^th. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, the top two candidates will runoff against each other on November 8th.
