#Giving Tuesday

From givingtuesday.org

Entering its seventh year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
What Is #GivingTuesday

Created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y—a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together around the values of service and giving back—#GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. A team of influencers and founding partners joined forces, collaborating across sectors, offering expertise and working tirelessly, to launch #GivingTuesday and have continued to shape, grow and strengthen the movement.

The Big Ideas Behind #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.

As a global movement, #GivingTuesday unites countries around the world by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.

  1. Have you all seen Apopka’s marijuana shop/dispensary? It is in same shopping plaza as the Chick-Fillet just on up a little past the Chick-Fillet, on the east end there where they also sell natural foods, that has been there a long time. We just happened to drive by, and there were signs stuck in the ground that they sell hemp products, CBD, and they had marijuana leaf signs, and also signs that stated, no marijuana card needed. I guess it surprised me, since my pharmacy is right there in the same plaza, and they posted signs that stated, no CBD on their door, as people were coming in there trying to buy it. That is the first I noticed these signs, as I don’t go on down that way too often, so I don’t know how long they have been selling the weed products.

  2. Looks like the candidates would take down their political campaign signs. They sure have been lax in that regard. Maybe they plan on leaving them up until the next go round? Weeks and weeks since the elections, and some don’t seem to be motivated to remove them from the right of ways.

  3. Let’s see….# Black Friday, # Cyber Monday, and # Giving Tuesday, so what will Wednesday be to look forward to?…..#Hangover Hump Day, maybe? lol

  4. Anna Nicole Smith’s mom, Virgie Arthur, has passed away. She passed away in Texas on Nov. 18th. She was 66 years old. She fought a long hard battle against cancer, but she had said to people who knew her well, that it was not being allowed to see, and have a relationship with her granddaughter, Dannielynn, who was Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, after Anna Nicole died, is what Virgie claimed was breaking her heart, and destroying her. So sad, so tragic, the events of the Anna Nicole Smith saga.

  5. Give credit where credit is due…..Thanks, President T….you have succeeded in raising the steel and aluminum tariffs to the point where GM can’t survive, and 14,000 jobs will be lost, and cars that I really like, will not be made anymore. Plus, soda drinks, and beer, and other beverages in cans, are going up in price, due to your tariffs. Thanks a lot, President T, you have succeeded in killing off the GM car plants. What, or whom, is next on your doomsday lists?
