Former Blue Darter Martez Ivey named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week

GAINESVILLE – University of Florida senior Martez Ivey was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, as the as the league announced Monday.

Ivey graded out at a team-high 91 percent and had three knockdown blocks. He was part of an offensive line that allowed the Gators to produce 367 yards of rushing offense on 62 carries and averaged 5.9 yards per rush.

Florida logged its sixth game of 200-plus rushing yards and tied the record for the most such games in a season since 2009 and for the second time since the start of the 2015 season, Florida had four-plus rushing touchdowns in a game.

The Gators also reached their highest single-season team rushing yardage total since 2004, with 2,031.

Ivey played for the Apopka Blue Darters from 2011-2015, winning the Class 8A state title as a senior in 2014 and also as a sophomore in 2012.

He also played in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, was named a Parade All-American, was selected to the MaxPreps All-America First Team, participated in Nike’s The Opening event in 2014 in Oregon, named to the 2013 and 2014 Class 8A All-State First Team, and was a MaxPreps Junior All-American in 2013.
