Florida gas prices are drifting lower again. After rising 8 cents early last week, pump prices have declined 1-cent per day, the past three consecutive days.
Prices at the pump have ping-ponged in recent weeks. The state average increased but then declined every other week for the past month; bouncing between $2.40 and $2.50 per gallon.
“The state average could fall to $2.41 per gallon by the end of the week, based on recent declines in the price of wholesale gasoline,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Recent EIA data suggests that refineries are conducting seasonal maintenance, which has had a throttling effect on gas prices in recent weeks. Fortunately, crude prices remain low, as ongoing tension between the US and China continues to worry the market. Florida pump prices have declined at a rate of one cent per day since Friday.”
Despite the recent increase, Florida gas prices remain 30 cents per gallon less than this time last year. Florida drivers are finding an average price of $2.47 per gallon, at the pump. The state average is 5 cents more than a week ago, but 3 cents less than this time last month.
