Focus on Congress

From the office of Rep. Val Demings

Yesterday, Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III delivered to the Attorney General a report on his inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Rep. Val Demings released this statement:

“As representatives, we took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. To that end, Congress is currently engaged in multiple investigations to stand against corruption, obstruction, and abuse of power. The Special Counsel’s report is a welcome contribution to our work to uphold the rule of law. I look forward to reviewing its findings and determining our next steps.

Rep. Val Demings

“Mueller’s investigation has led to 37 indictments. President Trump’s campaign manager, personal lawyer, national security advisor, and three other advisors have pleaded guilty or been convicted of federal crimes, including Conspiracy Against the United States. The Special Counsel’s evidence will contribute significantly to the numerous criminal and congressional investigations which are still ongoing.

“The American people deserve the full story. Members of the House of Representatives, of both parties, voted unanimously last week that the Mueller report should be released publicly to us and to the American people. During his confirmation hearing, Attorney General Barr said that ‘my goal will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law.’ It is my expectation that Attorney General Barr will keep his word.”

Demings serves as the member of the US House of Representatives from Florida’s 10th congressional district,  which includes parts of Orlando, Apopka, Eatonville, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and Windermere. She also served as Chief of the Orlando Police Department, the first woman to hold the position. She was the Democratic nominee in both 2012 and 2016 to represent Florida’s 10th congressional district, the latter of which Demings won, and was re-elected in 2018.

  1. I am so happy our President is cleared of all this mess and I hate that my US House Representative is so interested in continuing to harass him. Get to work and get something positive done for our country, Mrs. Demings!

  2. I have the opposite opinion. I am bent out of shape that Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, said from the very start, that she did not want to impeach Trump. Maybe now that AG Barr has not shown the transparency, as he indicated he would to Congress, but instead did a partisan cover- up for his president, maybe Ms. Nancy has seen the light, for a change. God knows the newer Democrats elected to Congress have seen the light, and realize Trump is bringing our country down to it’s knees. No wonder Trump wanted Pelosi as Speaker of the House! I am not mad at Val, I am mad at Pelosi!
