As fall hits its stride, you’ll need a healthy dose of new streaming content as you keep warm indoors. Luckily, the most popular streaming service on the web adds a solid assortment of films and original TV series for your viewing pleasure this month. What’s new on Netflix in October? A lot of great new content.
Netflix celebrates Halloween by debuting the much-anticipated second season of Stranger Things late in the month, giving fans of the show plenty to binge watch with a bowl full of candy. The streaming service launches the first season of Mindhunter, offering viewers a fictional glimpse inside an elite serial crime unit at the FBI in the late 1970s. It follows two agents who attempt to understand how serial killers think and apply it to ongoing cases.
Those looking for some lighter fair will find plenty of laugh-worthy new content coming to Netflix, too, including a series of comedy specials hosted by acclaimed comedians like Patton Oswalt, Judah Friedlander, and more.
On the film front, the streaming service shares a few exciting titles this October, including a film called The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) from acclaimed filmmaker Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale). The film follows an estranged family who get together in New York to celebrate the artistic work of their father, and stars an assortment of Hollywood A-Listers including Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Emma Thompson, and Dustin Hoffman. Other films worth watching this October include critically acclaimed dramas like Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, comedies like I Love You, Man and Tommy Boy, and seasonal horror flicks like Cult of Chucky.
As usual, October marks the end of the streaming road for many films and TV series on Netflix. Shows and movies to catch before they get kicked to the curb include The Shining, the first seven seasons of 30 Rock, and award-winning drama Million Dollar Baby.
