Clerk’s Office hosts virtual legal forum on post moratorium evictions

Posted

From the Orange County Clerk of Courts

Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell invites you to attend a special virtual edition of our Legal Matters Forum Series – Post Moratorium Evictions Update During COVID-19.

Due to COVID-19 and the CDC Evictions Moratorium soon expected to end, hundreds of citizens face eviction, homelessness, and uncertainty in the near future. As we work to rebound from this global pandemic, the rate of job loss and individuals not being able to financially sustain themselves has created an unfortunate epidemic of housing insecurity in our community.

With this free eviction update, the Clerk’s Office hopes to continue to shed light on the evictions process, inform the public of their rights, and share available resources. Speakers from the Clerk’s Office, Orange County Government, Legal Aid Society, Sheriff’s Office, and the Judiciary will present and be available to answer questions through the Q & A feature towards the end of the presentation.

The forum will be held Thursday, September 9th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the Zoom platform.

Legal Matters was created as a service to make legal information more easily accessible to the public. “These forums are one of the best ways to give our citizens more access to justice, and I know evictions is such a critical topic right now,” said Clerk Russell.
