From the Central Florida Foundation
We are all devastated by the effects of Hurricane Dorian on the Bahamas and are sharing ways you can help on our blog.
While our region has not experienced any direct impacts from Hurricane Dorian, Central Florida Foundation has activated its Central Florida Disaster Recovery Focus Fund. The fund will remain open during the hurricane season to ensure that in the event of another storm with possible damages, contributions are distributed quickly and directly to existing local, not-for-profit organizations serving community needs who have suffered damage or are utilizing existing resources in order to meet immediate needs. Funds will cover damages and resources not covered by insurance or FEMA.
If you would like to support the fund, contribute here. If you are an existing Central Florida Foundation fund holder and would like to make a contribution from your fund, login and submit a grant recommendation.
Lastly, following a natural disaster, there can be an increased risk of fraud committed by individuals preying upon the good intentions of people wanting to help; please take care that the organizations you are supporting are legitimate. Contact us with any questions.
