Builder's Blitz completes five houses in South Apopka in five days

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando partnered with five builders to build five homes for future Habitat homeowners in just five days. The Builders Blitz was held Monday, February 5th at 7 a.m. and will conclude on Saturday, February 10th at 10 a.m. with a celebratory home dedication ceremony for the five new homes.

Arbor Bend is Habitat Greater Orlando’s third community which will feature 34 homes upon its completion in 2019.

During the weeklong event, professional builders and subcontractors came together to donate building materials, supplies and the hours of labor to help change the lives of five South Apopka families who will be calling Arbor Bend home.

WHAT: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando celebrates the closing ceremony of their Builders Blitz where five (5) builders constructed five (5) homes for Habitat homeowners in just five (5) days.

WHEN: Closing Ceremony – Saturday, February 10th, 2018, 10 a.m.

WHERE: Arbor Bend in South Apopka, 1221 South Washington Avenue, Apopka, FL. Arbor Bend is Habitat Greater Orlando’s third planned community in the Orlando area which will feature 34 homes upon its completion in 2019. The single-family homes will range from three to five bedrooms and will include energy efficient appliances, WATER STAR certification and simple, landscaped yards.

“To pull off the amazing feat of building five homes in five days requires the partnership of generous builders, the engagement of all their subcontractors and months of planning and preparation,” said Catherine Steck McManus, president, and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando. “Building industry professionals understand the importance and impact of having a safe, affordable home. When builders provide the labor, funding, and materials, it allows Habitat Greater Orlando to serve even more homeowners. We are grateful for everyone’s generosity in making this week a reality.”

Participating Builders include HGR Construction, Park Square Homes, PCL Construction, Pulte Homes and Walker & Company.
