Breaking News:

From the Florida Highway Patrol

At approximately 6:20 am there was a multi-vehicle crash southbound on SR 429 at mile marker (mm) 26 near West Road. The crash involved eight vehicles. One person was transported to Florida Hospital Apopka with non-life threatening injuries.

There were other minor injuries reported.

The crash occurred when traffic slowed to let a vehicle merge. A pickup truck improperly changed lanes and cut off a dump truck. The dump truck struck a van and others collided, in a chain reaction crash. The dump truck overturned and spilled sand onto the roadway.

A second crash occurred on southbound SR 429 at mm 27 when a semi-truck failed to slow for stopped traffic and struck the guardrail. The semi then jackknifed.

The on-ramp at SR 429 south at mm26 and the off-ramp at SR414 west at SR429 were closed as of 9AM according to the Florida Department of Transportation website.

This is breaking news. The Apopka Voice will update this story as more details are known.
