Apopka Police Department conducting DUI saturation patrols

Posted

From APD News

The Apopka Police Department, in conjunction with the Orange County Community Traffic Safety Team and other local law enforcement agencies, are conducting enhanced DUI saturation patrols through the Fourth of July. With the summer holiday approaching, the APD wants the driving public to be safe and aware of other vehicles on the roadway. Multi-agency DUI saturation patrols are a valuable tool in law enforcement’s continuing efforts to remove impaired drivers and unsafe vehicles from the road.

Millions of Floridians and visitors are expected to travel on Florida roads this holiday season and the Apopka Police Department wants you to Arrive Alive. The primary focus of this operation is to promote awareness of safe driving, to include the enforcement of seat belt laws. Officers, Troopers, and Deputies will also focus on drivers who choose to operate their vehicle under the influence of alcohol, chemical, and/or other controlled substances. The goal is to reduce the number of crashes, fatalities, injuries, and the severity of injuries on the highways, streets and roadways throughout Apopka and Orange County. Remember, “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.” Don’t become a statistic, choose a designated driver.

Drivers are reminded to ensure everyone in their car is properly buckled up and never get behind the wheel impaired. If you are going to be drinking or taking medication which impairs your ability to drive, plan ahead by designating a sober driver or calling a ride service.

From our family at the Apopka Police Department to yours, please enjoy a safe and happy Fourth of July!
