Apopka pastor to speak at DCF Faith Symposium

The Florida Faith Symposium is one of the largest statewide gatherings of faith leaders looking to strengthen programs for vulnerable children and families. This year's symposium will be held in Orlando on November 2 and 3, 2016.

faith symposiumPastor Paula White, Senior Pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka is scheduled to speak during the opening general session.

This event, now in its seventh year, is hosted by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), in partnership with the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council.

There will be four general sessions and more than 30 workshops, as well as many networking opportunities focused on enhancing faith and community-based collaboration and coordination to build stronger communities and families.

The general sessions will feature:

  • Remarks from DCF Secretary Mike Carroll and DJJ Secretary Christina K. Daly.
  • Pastor Paula White, teacher, author, international evangelist and popular TV personality, known for her profound and dynamic Bible teachings.
  • Jonathan Evans, mentor, author, and former NFL fullback who seeks to impact today’s athletes, men, and young adults by equipping and encouraging them in their faith.
  • Reverend Dr. R.B. Holmes, a gifted preacher, visionary, and community leader in ministry for more than 30 years who has committed his life to investing and rebuilding communities.
  • Youth empowerment panel facilitated by child advocate Tanya Wilkins, co-founder of Fostering Connections, featuring young adults discussing real-life experiences in the DCF and DJJ system.

There will also be musical performances from:

  • Christopher Duffley - a blind and autistic Christian musical artist, who inspires others through his singing, presentations, and Mission Possible podcasts.
  • Minister Omega Forbes has shared the stage with well-known recording artists including, Vicki Winans, Tye Tribbett, Hezekiah Walker, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Marvin Sapp and others.
