Apopka Celebrates the 4th of July with Fireworks and Music

Posted

APOPKA, Fla. – The City of Apopka will celebrate Independence Day with a big night of fireworks, concerts and family fun.

The free event from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the Apopka Amphitheater includes one of Central Florida’s best fireworks shows. Throw back to the 1980’s with concerts from rockers Tommy Tutone and cover band Skin Deep. Enjoy great food and plenty of games and activities for the kids.

Free parking is available around the 182-acre Northwest Recreation Complex, 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway. Bring blankets and chairs - the large site provides a wide variety of unobstructed views of the fireworks. The Apopka Amphitheater features 1,300 seats around an outdoor concert stage.

Headlining the night of music will be the power pop band Tommy Tutone. The group led by vocalist Tommy Heath debuted their first American Top 40 single in 1980 with “Angel Say No.” Their biggest hit followed in 1982 with “867-5309/Jenny” – a memorable tune considered among the best from the 80’s era.

Skin Deep is one of the longest running, most recognized ’80’s cover bands in Florida. The group performs in clubs and special events throughout Central Florida, covering everything from Boston, Journey and Foreigner to Def Leppard, Styx and even Tommy Tutone.

The opening act will be Orlando-based alternative rock band A Brilliant Lie.
