Orange County Sheriff Demings comments on the manhunt

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings held a brief press conference this afternoon and explained the status of the manhunt for murder suspect Markeith Loyd.

Loyd is a suspect in the murder of his former pregnant girlfriend Sade Dixon, and the early morning murder of Orlando Police Sergeant Debra Clayton.

"Several hundred officers from multiple agencies are searching for the suspect," he said. "We will find him, and if you aid and abet this suspect in any way, you will face criminal charges."

He was asked what he would want to say to Loyd if he was watching on television.

"Turn yourself in. We want this to end peacefully. Turn yourself in, and we will facilitate the process, otherwise this will be a very risky situation if we have to go in an get you."

Demings was also asked if the manhunt would be more difficult if authorities do not locate Loyd by nightfall.

"We're not going anywhere," said Demings. "We will keep searching for this individual until we find him."
