Wekiva Island Paint Out coming next month

Posted

Wekiva Island is pleased to announce the return of its annual art event, Paint Out. This year’s week-long event will take place March 4-10. The event, which began in 2006, is a celebration of plein air artists, and a way to increase awareness to one of Central Florida’s greatest natural resources, the Wekiva River. Paint Out is a funding source for Keep Seminole Beautiful and Wekiva Wilderness Trust.

Throughout the week, guests can visit Wekiva Island free of charge and witness world-class artists painting along the boardwalk, in kayaks, canoes, at the bar, and at various locations along the Wekiva River. Visitors will have plenty of opportunities to view the work of the artists, as well as support the artists and charities by purchasing the pieces while enjoying live music and great food.

While there is no cost to attend the event, Wekiva Island Paint Out includes two ticketed events:

“Paint With The Pros” Quick Draw Competition, held on Saturday, March 9th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., where guests will have the opportunity to paint side-by-side with professional plein air artists, and compete for cash prizes. Tickets cost $25 per person.

The Paint Out Gala, held on Saturday, March 9th from 6 p.m to 10 p.m., featuring the work of 30 artists, a special meal and carving stations, wine, beer, and a bonfire on the river. Tickets cost $40 per person or $70 per couple.
