Visit Orlando Benefits All of Orange County

Posted

Visit Orlando is Orlando’s official tourism association. This association is led by a community based board of directors and executive leadership. Visit Orlando’s vision is for Orlando to be the “most visited” and premier travel destination in the world. Orange County has some of the biggest theme parks in the world, but is also home to upscale dining.

  • Orlando is currently the #1 ranked Spring Break Destinations on Orbitz.com.
  • Orange County was ranked No. 13 by the New York Times on the 52 Places to Go Across the World in 2015 list.
  • Orlando has been ranked #1 in the United States for meetings and events.

Florida received 105 million visitors to the state in 2015. Over 1.2 million Floridians are employed in the tourism industry which is why Visit Orlando is vital to our community’s continued growth and success.

Tourist tax collections (resort tax) received by Orange County in January 2016 were $19.5 Million. This was 3% higher than January 2015. This tax funds the acquisition and operation of convention centers, sports stadiums and arenas, auditoriums and museums, promotion and/or advertisement of tourism and funding of tourist and convention bureaus and tourist information centers. Resort taxes represent $6,000 per Orange County household.

In 2013, Florida TaxWatch released a report detailing the economic impact of increasing the number of annual visitors to the state. The report showed that 100 million visitors to Florida creates more than 121,000 jobs, nearly half of which were in non-tourism related industries.

Visit Orlando offers services for businesses, partners and those traveling to Orlando. Some of these services are located within the Visit Orlando Visitor Center on International Drive. This center offers currency exchange services, discounted attraction tickets, special prices on hotels, and planning for your vacation.

Free travel kits can be ordered online. Visit Orlando staff can assist businesses in finding the right destination for company meetings. The convention sales team can help with planning meeting space while the destination services team can help with locating offsite venues as well as transportation options for attendees.

In 2015 Visit Orlando raised $160,725 for Elevate Orlando during the 10th Anniversary of Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month. Visit Orlando also offers a unique philanthropic service where they match groups with local community organizations for engaging volunteer projects.
