UPDATING A BREAKING NEWS STORY

Ruth Charlene Davis waited a long time for closure. She wondered if it would ever come. The sister of Sean Davis, the shooting victim at the Errol Villas back in November, is now one step closer. Yesterday she received the call from an officer of the Joint Homicide Investigation Team (JHIT) and was told that Paul Neff, her brother’s shooter, had been arrested.

“I was shocked,” said Davis. “I really thought he was in the wind. I know he had to be out of that condo in December and I thought they lost him. A weight has been taken off of me and my entire family.”

Neff remains in the Orange County Jail with no bond following his First Appearance in Circuit Court this morning.

An arrest warrant was issued for Neff on Tuesday for First Degree Murder. He was taken into custody in Winter Park yesterday and booked into the Orange County Jail.

On November 5th, 2015 Apopka Police responded to the 911 call from the condominium on Villa Lane for a fatal shooting. Neff called 911 after he shot Davis, alleging he shot him in self-defense. Neff and Davis had lived in the rented condo for only a few months and were scheduled to move out before the Canadian owner traveled south for the winter. Neff moved out and left Apopka in December.

According to Davis’ sister, he and Neff met in Jacksonville in 2013.
