Updating Breaking News: Homicide victim in South Apopka identified

The deceased victim has been identified as Elkin DeJesus Ramirez (H/M, DOB 5/14/55). Victim’s next of kin has been notified.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded to Celeste Drive in South Apopka for a medical call for a male. Upon their arrival, they observed trauma to the body and pronounced the victim, Elkin DeJesus Ramirez, a Hispanic male, 62 years of age deceased. OCFR contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and homicide investigators responded and took over the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances of this homicide.

No other details are known or are being released at this time. As other details are known, The Apopka Voice will update the story.

The Orange County Fire and Rescue Department responded to an apparent medical call on Celeste Drive in South Apopka this morning between 9-10 AM, but when they arrived they called the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The man, authorities say, had trauma to his body and had died from his injuries.

Deputies said the man is 62 years old, but his name and manner of death were not released. They also witheld his profession or the type of work he was doing.

A homicide investigation is underway.

“The community can feel safe at this time," said Orange County Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte. "We do have deputies canvassing the neighborhood and no one is in danger.” She also said deputies are not searching for any suspects or a person of interest in connection with the crime, but would not say if anyone is being questioned or is in custody.
