The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle crash on Rock Springs Road in Apopka Sunday afternoon that resulted in serious injuries to the driver and a passenger fatality.
According to the FHP report, Erik Morales LeBron, 18 of Orlando was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi SUV and traveling southbound on Rock Springs Road at approximately 4pm on Sunday. For an unknown reason LeBron lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway. The front of the Mitsubishi struck a pole. LeBron was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Delisha Monge Pena, 17, of Orlando, died from injuries related to the crash.
According to the report, LeBron was wearing a seatbelt, but Pena was not.
The crash remains under investigation.
