Two-car accident and fire blocks Sheeler Road during rush hour

The Apopka Police and Fire Departments responded to a two-car collision on Sheeler Avenue in Apopka near the 441 and 436 interchange Wednesday afternoon. The crash caused one of the vehicles to catch fire. Firefighters from the AFD extinguished the flames, and EMT's transported one of the passengers to the hospital for precautionary treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The APD cited one of the drivers for the crash, but no charges are pending.

The crash tied up traffic on SR436, US441, and Sheeler Avenue during rush hour traffic conditions around 5 pm. All three roads are major arteries for Apopka commuters traveling home from work throughout Central Florida.

No other details are known.
