National Religious Liberty expert to speak in Apopka

Posted

Mathew Staver, the founder of Orlando-based Liberty Council will be speaking about current threats religious freedom in America in Apopka tomorrow.

Staver and his organization have defended the religious liberty rights of hundreds of Americans. Last year he represented Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who refused to personally sign same-sex marriage licenses due to her sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage.

He will be speaking at the 10:00 AM service at Victory Church World Outreach Center which is located at 509 South Park Avenue in Apopka.

"This month at Victory Church we are focusing on issues and answers leading up to the election," said Doug Bankson, Senior Pastor at Victory Church. "We are excited to have Mat come and speak at Victory, and all are welcome. Liberty Council is standing up for liberties all across the U.S. including most recently the defense of Chief Justice Roy Moore who has been unlawfully silenced for upholding the Alabama Constitution.

Bankson went on to say, "In this climate of political correctness and moral ambiguity, people need to be informed not only of our rights but of the foundation of our law. Our democratic republic is based on the rule of law, which protects us from anarchy and mob rule. However most have lost the understanding of the foundation of western law, and that law itself has rules or boundaries that our founders understood and called "the laws of nature and natures God." This knowledge both guides and restricts human law and protects our inalienable rights given by our Creator. As an expert on law, Mat will help bring light and understanding to not only our liberties, but our rights to defend that liberty."

Staver has a B.A. in Theology from Southern Missionary College, an M.A. in Religion from Andrews University, and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky. He has argued before the Supreme Court of the United States twice and has argued before most of the federal courts of appeals.

Staver served as the Dean of the law school at Liberty University from 2006 to 2014.

He founded Liberty Council in 1989.

Liberty Counsel is an international nonprofit litigation, education, and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family since 1989, by providing pro bono assistance and representation on these and related topics. With offices in Florida, California, Virginia, Washington, D.C, and an outreach to Israel, this ministry has hundreds of advocates around the world.
