Arrowsmith named Board Vice President

From the Lake Apopka Natural Gas District

Approved during a meeting of the Apopka City Council on May 16th, Seat 4 Apopka City Commissioner Kyle Becker and his Seat 4 predecessor Bill Arrowsmith have been appointed as the newest members of the Lake Apopka Natural Gas District Board of Directors.

Each will serve a two-year term on the board, which governs one of Florida’s fastest-growing public natural gas utilities. Arrowsmith will serve as Board Vice President, having been unanimously approved for that role during the District board meeting on May 21.

“Becker and Arrowsmith’s experience and dedication to our community will further fortify the values and mission of our District,” said Samuel Davis Jr., General Manager and CEO of the District and Second Vice Chair of the American Public Gas Association. “We are proud to welcome them to the team as the District continues to uphold its commitment to providing reliable and environmentally friendly natural gas service.”

An Apopka resident for more than 60 years, Arrowsmith previously served on the board for four years and has nearly four decades of experience in municipal government. Nearing his second year as Seat 4 Commissioner, Becker will bring his passion for Central Florida’s growth and extensive analytical business experience to the role, helping guide the District as it continues to provide customer-focused, competitive natural gas energy services to more than 21,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.

In addition to his leadership role in Apopka, Becker is the Director of Business Performance and Insights for Finastra, a leading global financial services technology provider with offices in Lake Mary. He also serves on the board of directors for Quest Inc., a regional nonprofit that meets the needs of those with developmental disabilities and supports the causes of many other nonprofits in Apopka and surrounding areas.

Monthly meetings of the District’s Board of Directors are generally the fourth Monday at 10 a.m. at 1320 Winter Garden-Vineland Road, Winter Garden. Changes are communicated to the member cities of Winter Garden, Apopka, and Clermont, and published in the Orlando Sentinel. Meeting notices, agendas and any other applicable resolutions or notices are posted on the District website and made available in the District lobby the Wednesday prior to each board meeting. All board meetings are open to the public.
