The VOICE of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

From the Orange County Clerk of Courts

In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Orange County Clerk of Courts reminds the community our office is a local resource for those affected directly and indirectly by domestic violence.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.

The Orange County Clerk of Courts is an advocate for putting an end to the violence. Our Family Services Injunction team helps those affected by domestic, repeat, sexual, dating, and stalking violence obtain restraining orders for protection.

“Serving both on the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Commission and the Domestic Violence Taskforce, I along with my fellow justice partners and community leaders work to identify trends and reduce the incidence of domestic violence in the community,” said Clerk Tiffany Moore Russell.

There were 6,397 injunctions filed in 2016 at the Clerk’s Office, and we helped over 17,000 customers. These numbers are staggering, however, the more we educate the public on how to get help, the more we can reduce the threat of domestic violence.

Domestic violence not only affects victims but also family and friends. For more information on the services the Clerk’s Office provides related to domestic violence go to the Family Law section of our website at www.myorangeclerk.com
