Rookie of the Year: Officer Kristin Cintron

Over 80 arrests in her first year on the job

Officer Kristin Cintron was named the Apopka Police Department Rookie of the Year at its annual Awards Ceremony.

Since becoming a solo officer, Cintron has displayed a great deal of professionalism and competence both with her peers and the community. Cintron’s drive and willingness to go the extra mile in the investigation of her cases has led her to make over 80 arrests with the vast majority made due to her proactivity.

Cintron is a constant presence in the communities she serves. She makes a point to get out of her vehicle to play with the children in her neighborhoods which has assisted her in building strong relationships with the citizens of Apopka.

Officer Cintron always has a smile on her face and it is the first thing you notice when you meet her. Her compassionate and thoughtful personality are just a couple of the attributes that make her so good at being a police officer. She is very deserving of being selected as the Rookie of the Year."

On top of her excellent work ethic and ability, Officer Cintron is one of the most genuinely kind people around. She always has a smile on her face and it is clear she has one on her heart too.

Dina Cedillo was named Civilian of the Year by the Apopka Police Department at its annual awards ceremony. Cedillo began her career in 2006, and from the very beginning, she has done an outstanding job in Records and was promoted to the Records Supervisor.

She has an excellent attitude and ensures the records division completes the many tasks required of them professionally and in a timely manner. She is dedicated to the success of the agency and all its employees. Communications Technician of the Year: Alison Fahning

An unsung hero of 911 calls

Alison Fahning is a dream employee. Not only is she a hardworking professional, she is kind and takes her job seriously. She is quick to pick up tasks that she knows will be tedious and demanding. For example, she volunteered to work 8-hour shifts, which included working every single Saturday, to assist the communications center with their staffing. While working this schedule Fahning picked up overtime before and after nearly every shift to help the center and avoid mandating other employees to cover these shifts.

Other employees turn to her for answers due to her many years of experience and her willingness to always help others.

Working in our communications center, Alison is one of the unsung heroes of the Apopka Police Department," said McKinley. "Our communications technicians seldom get the recognition they truly deserve. Alison answers the 911 and nonemergency lines with a caring and positive attitude. Alison’s comforting and calming personality are what make her excel in the communications center and are only a few of the reasons why she is so deserving to be the Communications Technician of the Year."
