A man who would have enjoyed Hurricane Irma?

Prayer really does work you know!

I have always liked to fly in the face of the status quo, to do the unexpected, the quirky; the, off the wall if you will.

One of my larger than life heroes is John Muir. John, due to his laboring for the protection of America’s wild places, has been called, and for good reason, the father of our national park system. I believe that John would have enjoyed Hurricane Irma. Yeah, I know that sounds a tad crazy, but I get it from something he wrote. “There is nothing like a storm,” he bellowed after scaling a Douglas fir during a gale in Northern California.

Clinging “with muscles firm braced, like a bobolink on a reed,” he drank in the wild exuberance of light and motion” for hours, certain that, “on such occasions, nature has always something rare to show us. Throughout his life, Muir sought to experience all facets of nature, from the violent to the sublime.

Boy, do I like that! One thing I believe to the depths of my being, is that God not only hears our prayers, but He answers them. Over the last few days I have been listening to a lot of dear folks expressing their fear of hurricane Irma. I may be nuttier than a fruitcake, but Irma just doesn’t scare me. “How come,” you might well ask. “Why aren’t you afraid?”

Because I am praying, and I trust myself in His Holy hands! What miracles could be wrought if we were all praying! Now don’t get me wrong, I respect nature. I know there are cataclysmic forces at work, awesome forces, that folks like to call, “Acts of God.” But I must protest. The devil, after stirring up a cauldron of destruction, laughs gleefully when his pot of mischief boils over and is then blamed on the Father.

But Satan is a liar, and the father of lies. I believe the devil’s most serious deceptions and his most dangerous heresies involve God’s true character and motives. So, as God’s children, I would encourage you to trust Him. Rejoice and exult Him for you are safe in His arms, and pray my friend, pray, not just for yourself but for your neighbors, and see what wonders can be wrought.

Our prayer:

"Praise you O most Holy God, I praise you and exult your glorious name. Papa, right now I place myself and all my neighbors in your hands. Hold us close right now and protect your people. I thank you Father for everything that you have done and everything that you are about to do. I love you, and I trust you. In Jesus’ most wonderful and Holy name, Amen."

At the end of this article in the comment section please type in a short prayer of thanksgiving. It will be a blessing and encouragement to others.
