Local builders dedicate new home to local family

Posted

Habitat for Humanity part of nationwide Home Builders Blitz

For the third consecutive year, local builders stepped up to build a home for a local family with Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County & Greater Apopka during Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz 2017, June 5-9. Professional contractors and suppliers provided the labor, funding, and materials to help a single mother of three build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

“Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz is truly a testament to the willingness of local builders to invest in their communities,” said Penny Seater, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Seminole-Apopka. “Habitat for Humanity is just that facilitator that brings the community together to make days like this happen. We are so grateful for their support.”

The property was donated by Bank of America and the previous structure demolished by the City of Sanford. Led by Wharton-Smith, Inc. and E2 Homes and funded by J. Raymond Construction, professional contractors overcame a week of storms to complete the home in one week. On the evening of June 14, 2017, the contractors gathered along with the family, Habitat for Humanity and supporters to dedicate the home. Light rain did not dampen the spirits of those in attendance.

“We at Wharton-Smith feel blessed to be able to contribute to this effort and are very grateful to the contractors that stepped up to assist.” said Tim Smith of Wharton-Smith, Inc. “They not only donated their skill and materials; they gave their hearts to this project.”

The event is supported nationwide by presenting sponsor Ply Gem, with additional support from Martin Marietta, The Blue Book Building and Construction Network, Huber Engineered Woods, Masco Corp., Columbia Forest Products and Gildan.

Local support is provided by Wharton Smith, Inc., E2 Homes, Builders First Source, CPH, Giles Electric, THARP, City of Sanford, Sanford Police Department, Acousti Engineering Company of FL, BNG Construction, Inc., Lafrontier Builders, Inc., Hudson Everly Commercial Flooring, Ivetic Trucking, T&S Professional Rentals, Universal Engineering Sciences, Waste Pro, Inc. and SI Goldman Co., Inc.
