By Charles Towne

Listen carefully: do you hear it?  He is speaking to you right now, today.

That low gentle whisper that you hear speaking your name, that is Papa God talking to you.

If you listen carefully you might hear Him say, “I have a plan…”

Yes, Papa God has a magnificent plan for your life and mine.  He is only waiting for our permission, and yes, our cooperation.

Yes… you can believe it, He has a plan.

For most of my life, I have blundered along, wandering aimlessly, never certain of anything other than a certain uncertainty that left me as empty and hollow as grandma’s broken teapot that her cat knocked off the shelf when he threw a hissy fit.

How do you suppose God works?  Perhaps the real question should be… how does He lovingly influence the lives of some to their betterment while others… well, they resist Him?

Do you suppose He has a great plan, a design for each of us and He is anxiously and lovingly waiting for us to cooperate so that He can work miracles of glory in us and through us to His divine purpose?

Have you ever crossed paths with another and felt impressed to speak to them, perhaps pray for them?  Remember, that is God speaking to you at that moment in space and time, and He is whispering… “I have a plan.”

Perhaps He is speaking to you right now and He is saying,  “I have a plan.”

Oh, you know what I am talking about.  He has ways of speaking to us beyond mere words… ways discerned only by the heart.

Listen carefully… Do you hear Him?  He is saying to you right now, “Listen carefully my child. I have a plan for your life!”

Charles Towne is first and foremost a Christian. An octogenarian, author, journalist, wildlife photographer, naturalist, caregiver, and survivor, his life has been and continues to be, a never-ending adventure filled with possibilities never imagined. He has adopted the philosophy that to Live fully, laugh uproariously, love passionately, and learn like there is no tomorrow, is a formula for a long and joy-filled life.

  1. Be Still and KNOW that I and God, in as much as you have done Ii to the least of my Breathren you have done it on to Me

  2. Dear NH, hmm, life credentialing? I guess that is what we earn when we attend the college of hard knocks, or Knox college as it is sometimes called. Life is a hard but good teacher isn’t it? Chaz

  3. EJ, Papa God has a plan! What that plan is for each of us may be different but at the same time it is the same because the destination is the same. Yes, Papa God has a plan and He is calling you and I to help Him fulfill that glorious plan! Wow, what a joy. Chaz

  4. Yes, it has taken most of my life to get to the point where I hear God speaking. But I think that is part of the process, depending on how we each allow God to work.
Oh how precious it is that He yearns to have a close relationship with us. I pray we see the value and open ourselves up to Him, more and more.

  5. Dear CSG, it is interesting and much to our benefit that He is so persistent in His magnificent love that He never gives up even when we give up on ourselves. What a magnificent and loving God He is. Blessings dear friend, Chaz

  6. Knowing that God has a plan can be very comforting in itself and constantly provides a lot of comfort to me. Another great column Chuck. God bless!

  7. Perhaps the reason that some folks who are listening but continue to resist is yet another example of how self-absorbed out society has become. How refreshing it is to see Papa God’s plan for the rescue of those trapped in the cave in Thailand being acted on by so many talented individuals. The risks are great but every rescued individual is testament to his powerful guidance – all we have to do is listen.

  8. Good observation mike. Anytime we see people work together to the benefit of others I believe it is testimony to God’s great love. Some will blame God if any are lost in the above mentioned incident but this is a classic example of cause and affect. If i were fatally injured while photographing bears it would be my fault and not Papa God’s, or if I violate one of the natural laws such as gravity I very well might have to pay the price in which case it might end up resulting in something other than for God’s plan for us. In other words, could it be possible that we might interfere with what some call destiny? Just saying. Chaz

  9. Love this scripture. It is so comforting to know God has a plan for us. And we know we can trust him. Thank you for reminding us that we need to listen.

  10. Kristin, that my friend has notoriously been one of my problems… I was a little slow in the listening department, but thank God I am learning! Blessings on you, Chaz

  11. In the Old Testament Sanctuary, the priest paused and washed at the Laver before entering the Holy Place. It was a place to slow down and contemplate the Living Water, God’s ability to clean us within and without. It allowed for God to begin the listening as we continue on, like the priest did, into our Christian walk. Slowing down and taking time to listen and reflect with God changes a life like nothing else can.

  12. O yes George, the Father never demonstrated His plan more profoundly then He did at that time. Praise Him from who all blessings flow! Wow, what a wonderful Holy friend He is! Chaz
