God: "Sure I can do that"

Inspiration

By Charles Towne

This last Tuesday I was helping my buddy George clean up after hurricane Irma played at working her mischief by dumping about a ton of Spanish moss and other detritus in his yard. We have been praising our friend God for keeping so many safe during what was supposed to be such a monumental storm.

Sure, there were a lot of downed trees with consequential damage done to electric lines, shingles ripped from roofs, and more debris than we like to think about, but it could have been so much worse. As we were working in my friend’s yard I lost my set of keys. (Truck key, house key, etc.) When I realized the loss I told George and the two of us stopped what we were doing and bowed our heads in prayer.

One thing I have learned in my life is that when I have a problem to take it to our Father.

We began looking in the grass, with its tangles of Spanish moss, and I must say it was like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack. A little later George’s young neighbor stopped by and asked what we were doing and when we told him he started searching too. Perhaps Papa God was trying to humble me because that young fellow with his 20/20 vision hadn’t been looking for five minutes when he suddenly called out to me, “Are these what you are looking for?”

I was thrilled to see him walking toward me with a big smile on his face and my keys in his hand!

Hey, isn’t our God wonderful? When we ask for some little tiny thing, like a set of truck keys, or, perhaps something big, like deliverance from a hurricane, He likes to say, “Sure, I can do that!” Now is the time for us to respond by reaching out and helping our neighbors, by letting them see our Lord Jesus in us. I have an idea, and I am sure you will agree, Papa God loves to see His children helping one another! God bless each and every one of you is my prayer now as cleanup begins.

P.S. Remember, He is there whatever flavor or size the difficulty might be.
