Florida Hospital is in need of volunteers

Whether you’re a pianist or a book lover, a college student or a retiree, an introvert or an extrovert, there are countless opportunities for you to share your time and talent at Florida Hospital.

Florida Hospital is in need of volunteers. Despite the roughly 2,000 volunteers spread across our campuses, there are still requests from more than 140 departments in Orlando alone for people willing and eager to lend a hand and help their community.

“One of the greatest ways we can give back to our community is by sharing our time, talents and treasure with those who need it most,” said Yamile Luna, assistant vice president of Florida Hospital Community Impact and Volunteer Services.

“Our patients, who are often amid the most difficult time in their life, are so appreciative of our volunteers,” Luna said. “Volunteers’ simple acts of kindness — such as bringing a book mobile to our pediatric patients, teaching others to paint watercolors, playing peaceful tunes on the lobby piano, or greeting visitors with a warm smile — lift everyone’s spirits.”

The area’s most in need of volunteers:

Artists who are willing share their talent by bringing art to the bedside

Avid readers who would be willing to read to patients or help them choose a story

Pianists who share their love of music with patients, employees and visitors

Volunteers in customer service in our Emergency Departments and surgical waiting rooms
