The new hospital will begin operating at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13th. Simultaneously, the longtime hospital on Park Avenue will close its doors.

After more than two years of construction, the new Florida Hospital Apopka is set to open its doors to patients.

The new hospital will begin operating at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13. At the same time, the current facility will stop accepting patients at that time.

BEGINNING AT 7 A.M. ON DECEMBER 13TH, PATIENTS IN NEED OF CARE MUST COME TO THE NEW HOSPITAL, LOCATED AT 2100 OCOEE APOPKA ROAD.

Patients undergoing treatment during this transition will be transported via ambulance from the old campus to the new location on the morning of December 13th.

“We are working hard to make this transition as seamless and stress-free as possible for our patients,” said Tim Cook, administrator of Florida Hospital Apopka. “We are looking forward to continuing our legacy of care and expanding our services in this beautiful new facility.”

The 450,000-square-foot hospital includes 120 private inpatient rooms, expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites, and a catheterization lab. The seven-story building will also feature a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel and gift shop.

  1. I am going to miss the old hospital which is a lot closer. I thought when they redid the old hospital, the last time, and put on all of that new rounded glass frontage, and other newer entrance remodel that it was going to continue to be used for a long time as the hospital serving Apopka…wrong.

  2. With the ever expanding borders of Apopka, I guess if you have to go to the hospital via an ambulance, if your emergency condition doesn’t do you in then, and you survive, then the ambulance bill and hospital bill will end up putting you back in there from the shock when you see it!

  3. I saw those photos of the long strands of glass or plexiglass or whatever the material was hanging down from the ceiling of the new hospital as the new swanky décor. Got that hospital looking like a fancy hotel or casino….how much extra is that going to add to the hospital bills?

  4. Someone asked what will they do with the old hospital….I don’t know, but I know it was mentioned when the Apopka council was debating the amendments to the alcohol ordinance. Who knows? Maybe they will turn it into a brewery or distillery……maybe they will turn it into an alcoholic’s or a homeless person’s substance abuse rehab center like some I have read about, where they are allowed to drink alcohol, and live in on the premises….you think I am kidding? Unfortunately, I am not, this time about the rehab, as I have read something kind of down this line……

  5. Maybe they are going to fill the hospital up with Puerto Ricans who are hurricane victims? Maybe that is the surprise? And the feds will pay the hospital system for the “rent”?

  6. Maybe it is going to house second chance felons and inmates with the state paying the hospital? And parts of the old hospital turned into training like culinary careers, construction instruction…..maybe a faith based mission?
