Posted

An adult male eagle hit the windshield of a Jeep Cherokee on Florida's Turnpike, according to FHP spokesperson Sergeant Kim Montes.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Julio Velez put the stunned bird in the back of his patrol car and then waited for wildlife officials to arrive.

Watch as Trooper Velez rescues the bird that was hit and left stranded on the side of the road:

The bird was transferred to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland.

The eagle had no broken or fractured bones according to Dianna Flynt, rehabilitation supervisor at the Audubon Center. His muscles were sore from the crash.

When the bird is fully recovered officials plan to release him.
