FEMA offers re-employment assistance for hurricane-displaced workers

If you are a displaced worker because of Hurricane Irma, help is available through a special program for re-employment and emergency assistance. Displaced worker grants are awarded for temporary employment to conduct work associated with disaster recovery.

Apply to the program before October 16th through the Florida Re-employment and Emergency Assistance Coordination team. Do this by visiting floridajobs.org. Select the application link under Hurricane Irma Recovery Assistance image. Call 800-385-3920 if you need assistance.

FEMA extends hours of operation

Effective immediately, FEMA/STATE Disaster Recovery Center operating hours have been expanded to open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.

Disaster recovery assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status. If you or someone you know has been discriminated against, call FEMA toll-free at 800-621-FEMA (3362). For TTY call 800-462-7585. FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses. ###
