Posted

COFFEE WITH A COP on Friday, January 12th from 7am– 8:30am at the Apopka McDonald’s 233 East Main Street

From the Apopka Police Department Public Information Office

Whether you’re on your way to work, taking the children to school, or just starting out your day, stop by the Apopka McDonald’s and get to know your local community law enforcement agency.

Join Chief Mike McKinley with Apopka Police officers at the Apopka McDonald’s on Main Street. Enjoy a cup of coffee while discussing issues and learn about making a difference in our community. No agenda, just a chance to sit and talk about what concerns you. Attendees of this event will enjoy a FREE McCafe’ small coffee, courtesy of McDonald’s.

“This is an opportunity to meet the community one-on-one in a neutral setting instead of during a crisis which typically brings law enforcement officers and community members together," McKinley said.

Coffee with A Cop was launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011. Members of the Hawthorne Police Department were looking for ways to interact more successfully with the citizens they served each day. These brainstorming sessions led to the idea of having coffee with members of the community they serve.

The event is was designed to provide residents with the opportunity to ask questions and establish positive relationships with law enforcement, without any speeches or agendas.
