Breaking News: Apopka woman charged with stabbing two victims

The North Lake Pleasant residence has a history of 9-1-1 calls for service

Orange County deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 9:23 a.m this morning at a North Lake Pleasant Road residence in reference to an aggravated battery via stabbing. The victim, described as a 29-year old white male, got into a verbal argument with his roommate for an unknown reason. The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim several times with a knife. The suspect also stabbed a second victim, described as a 29-year-old white female and the girlfriend of the first victim.

According to a report released by the OCSO, there were 34 previous 9-1-1 calls for service to this residence between August 21st, 2017, and May 28th, 2018.

Both stabbing victims were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The male victim is in critical, but stable condition, and the female victim is in stable condition according to the OCSO.

The suspect, identified as Paula Benson-Smith, 59 of Apopka, was secured and transported to the Orange County Sheriff's Office for questioning by detectives and later transported to the Orange County Jail. She was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

The investigation is still ongoing.
