Blue Darters remain in Top 10 of AP Poll

Posted

The Apopka Blue Darters moved up to #3 in the most recent Associated Press Poll of 8-A high school football teams. Apopka moved ahead of the Kissimmee Kowboys from the week before. The Blue Darters and Kissimmee were previously tied for the third spot in last week's poll.

The Dr. Phillips Panthers, state runners-up last season, are currently #1 in the poll. The Blue Darters and Panthers play their annual rivalry game on Monday night, October 9th - a makeup game after their regularly scheduled game was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Last season Apopka (ranked #1 at the time) rallied past Dr. Phillips (ranked #2 at the time) 15-14.

The Blue Darters are currently 4-1 (1-0 in district play) after a 57-12 victory over Evans High School last week. They travel to Jacksonville to play the Mandarin Mustangs (2-3) this Friday.
