Breaking News:

From the Orange County Sheriff's Office

At 6:40 a.m. members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office/Fugitive Squad along with US Marshals from the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force were attempting to arrest Eddie Lewis Darby Jr., 44, on an outstanding warrant.

Eddie L. Darby Jr.

Darby had been sentenced to 15 years in prison for charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell/Distribute. Darby failed to appear for his sentencing on March 13th, 2017. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Darby eluded Winter Garden Police and OCSO Deputies, so the case was sent to the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force.

This morning it was learned that Darby was in the home with three young children: a one-year-old female, a seven-year-old male, and a nine-year-old female. Darby refused to answer the phone or commands to give up. After several hours OCSO/SWAT members were called in around 9:40 a.m. and 4-5 homes were evacuated near the scene.

After SWAT members were deployed to the home, Darby gave himself up peacefully around 2:30 p.m. today. The children were unharmed and are back with their mother.

Darby was taken to the Orange County Jail.
