Apopka Police and Businesses Join to Help Apopka Teachers

Teachers deserve so much community support.

The average public school teacher spends $485 out of pocket each year to help provide school materials like paper, pencils and art supplies for students in their classrooms. The typical cost for all these extra materials is about $945.

The Apopka Police Department is partnering with local businesses to provide some help this school year. The second annual Back to School Shopping Event on Friday, August 5th will provide money for each selected elementary school teacher to purchase school materials at U.S. Toy – a store for children’s toys, classroom materials and party supplies at 805 E. Semoran Blvd. in Apopka.

Elementary schools in Apopka nominated two teachers each. They will meet at U.S. Toy on Friday for this special event with city police officers. Anyone interested in contributing to this important cause can contact Officer Cynthia Hall at chall@apopka.net or at (407) 703-1771.
