UPDATING BREAKING NEWS:

The alleged car-jacking yesterday on 441 at Lake Avenue was in fact a narcotics-related incident between individuals that knew each other according to the Apopka Police Department (APD). "It was not a random car-jacking," said Sgt. Kim Walsh, Public Information Officer for the APD. "The complainant (person who reported the incident) was subsequently arrested on outstanding warrants."

Teddy J. Clairmont, 35 of Cape Coral, FL called the APD and said he had been car-jacked. After interviewing Clairmont it was learned that an individual who was a known associate of Clairmont had taken his vehicle without his permission because of a "narcotics-related incident" according to the APD. Clairmont was arrested for Dealing in Stolen Property and Falsely Pawning Items (Receiving money from a pawn broker for items he did not own). Additional charges are pending on Clairmont.

According to the APD, the person who took Clairmont's vehicle was an associate of his whom he only knew by a first name. That part of the incident is still under investigation.
