Posted

Topping-out ceremony scheduled for 11:30 AM today

A special "topping-out" metal beam will be placed onto the highest point of the new Florida Hospital Apopka later today. The new medical complex is under construction near State Roads 429 and 414 in Apopka. The beam was signed by hospital staff and Apopka residents to commemorate one of the single largest construction projects in Apopka's history and the future of medical care in our community.

The new, 70-acre location will include a seven-story, 600,000-square-foot hospital building, a 200,000-square-foot medical office building and a helipad. Plans call for 120 private patient rooms, additional surgical services and expanded Women’s Center, outpatient rehabilitation program and intensive care unit.

The facility is expected to create up to 300 new jobs in Apopka. Opening is set for 2017.
