Apopka High Valedictorian announced

Posted

Robert Edstrom has always been able to weigh extra-curricular activities with scholastics. The Apopka High Senior was Captain of the Water Polo team, ran Varsity Cross Country, and was President of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society as well. Edstrom was also a member of the National Science Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and an Engineering Magnet Leader.

Edstrom was Captain of the Water Polo Team at AHS, as well as holding a 5.23 GPA. Edstrom was Captain of the Water Polo Team at AHS, as well as holding a 5.23 GPA.

But that was not the highlight of Edstrom’s career at Apopka High. His GPA is what stands out the most. During his four years at AHS, Edstrom held a 5.23 weighted GPA, which is 4.0 un-weighted.

That is all A’s all four years.

That outstanding GPA earned him the honor of being the AHS Valedictorian for the 2015-16 school year. And according to Edstrom, it was a surprise.

“It is such an honor to be the top student and represent my class,” he said. “I never thought I would be Valedictorian, but I kept working hard so that I had the possibility. Of course I would not have been able to do it without my parents, teachers, and peers supporting me. I am beyond appreciative for this title.”

Edstrom will speak at the AHS Graduation ceremony on May 31st at the CFE Arena on The University of Central Florida campus, and then he is off to The Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall; majoring in Environmental Engineering. But he will never forget the 2015-16 term at AHS.

“It has been such a great year, and this is like the cherry on top.”

Apopka High School, Robert Edstrom
