Apopka High School FFA Raising Funds to Travel to Nationals

Posted

The Apopka High School FFA Livestock Judging and Floriculture Teams have both qualified to compete in the FFA National Competition in Indiana at the end of October.

Both teams need the Apopka community to come together to show their support for the hard work that these students, their coach and their advisor have put into following their passions.

Chrissy Maxwell is the co-organizer of "Championship Clinic," a Livestock Fitting, Grooming, Nutrition and Showmanship Clinic to benefit both the Livestock Judging and Floriculture teams.

The two-day weekend event will focus on both Cattle (Saturday) and Sheep (Sunday). The Clinics will take place at 4320 Golden Gem Road in Apopka on August 13th and 14th.

This clinic will be educational and fun - whether it be their first year taking part in these projects or their last, this event will be beneficial to all, including parents!

The Livestock Judging Team will be comprised of older children who have limited time left in the show ring themselves and are ready to pass on their trade-secrets, their skills and share their passion for the industry. This event will allow them to put their past years of experience marketing, networking, and public speaking and raising their own livestock to good use.

In addition to the Clinic, a Fitting Contest will be scheduled and judged by some local highly recognized Livestock breeders and experts. Twisted South is expected to provide all products on site in addition to their expertise knowledge.

The organizers are planning a raffle, concessions and many other exciting opportunities to raise the funds needed to get both teams to Nationals!

Anyone interested in donating a product or service that could be raffled off during this event, should contact Chrissy Maxwell, who says, "No donation too small! We are putting together baskets of our smaller donated services & products so no matter the value of the donation we will be so very appreciative!"

All donations are 100% Tax Deductible and Chrissy will provide donors with all documents needed for tax purposes.

The Apopka Area has a strong foundation in agricultural and a pride in community involvement. Sending these teams to Nationals will help Apopka keep that tradition.
