Apopka High School football standout KJ Dillon was drafted in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft (159th overall) by the Houston Texans today. Dillon, a three-year starter for coach Rick Darlington at AHS was the 2011 All-Central Florida Second Team Defense Player of the Year for the Blue Darters.

In 2012, Dillon received a scholarship to The University of West Virginia where in 2015, he was credited with 55 tackles, 7.5 for a loss, two interceptions and eight pass break-ups. Dillon also earned second-team All-Big 12 honors last year, and played in The Senior Bowl this season. He played in 48 career games and started in 29 throughout his 4-year career at the Strong Safety position for the Mountaineers.

The Texans finished 9-7 last season, winning the AFC South Division and making the playoffs. Dillon will play alongside three-time Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt on the Texans’ defense.
