Apopka grad named to West Florida hall of fame

Apopka High School graduate Brandon Brewer was named to The University of West Florida Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2017.

The Class of 2017 includes UWF President Dr. Judy Bense, Brewer (Baseball, 2008-11), Courtney Jones (Women's Soccer, 2006-09), Nolan Intermoia (Men's Soccer, 2003-08), Greg Pron (Baseball, 2008-11), WEAR TV Sports Director Dan Shugart (Special Achievement) and Pensacola News-Journal Senior Writer Bill Vilona (Special Achievement).

Brewer's was the UWF career leader in walks (140) and assists (664) … Ranks 2nd all-time at UWF in runs scored (169), 3rd in RBI (122), eighth in doubles (34), 7th in stolen bases (58), 9th in times hit by pitch (15) and 2nd in sacrifice bunts (37) … 2011 All-America (2nd team Daktronics, 2nd team NCBWA) … 2011 All-South Region (1st Team Daktronics, 2nd Team ABCA & NCBWA) … 2-time ABCA South Region Gold Glove Team … 2011 NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team … 2-time All-GSC (1st team in 2011; 2nd team 2009).

 

He Graduated from Apopka High School in 2007, and lettered four years at shortstop and second base. He was an all-state honorable mention selection, led Apopka to district and conference championships his sophomore year, and ranked as a top recruit in the North Florida region.
