Apopka files lawsuit against former Administrator Richard Anderson

The City of Apopka filed a lawsuit against Richard Anderson, former city administrator, consultant and lobbyist on Wednesday. The lawsuit claims Anderson damaged the City's reputation due to his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run crash in Lake County on April 5th. The City is seeking $155,000 in damages.

The accident resulted in Anderson being sued by Michael Falcon, the victim of a hit-and-run crash on April 5, 2016. In the complaint Falcon alleges that Anderson was the owner of the truck that collided with his car, and Anderson was also the driver of the vehicle. More details here.

In June the Apopka City Council voted unanimously to terminate Anderson's contract and file a lawsuit against him. More details here.

Apopka's lawsuit alleges that Anderson damaged the City's reputation and therefore is in breach his contract.

The lawsuit makes makes several allegations regarding Anderson's behavior, including;

• Anderson failed to tell the City about the April 5 crash.
• Anderson failed to render aid at the April 5 crash.
• Anderson refused to cooperate with authorities investigating the April 5 crash.
• Anderson left the scene of the April 5 crash.
• Anderson engaged in reckless driving that resulted in serious bodily injury and property damage.
• Anderson tampered with physical evidence relevant to the April 5 crash.

The contract allows either party to collect double the amount of remaining payments if the other party breaches the contract. The City is claiming that amount to be $155,000.
