Sullivan wins second term with rout over NPA Rightmyer

Republican incumbent Jennifer Sullivan won a convincing victory and a second term in the State House District 31 race in overwhelming fashion, defeating challenger and non-party-affiliate Robert Rightmyer with 18,123 votes (70%). Rightmyer, an Apopka attorney, received 7,821 votes (30%) in Orange County. In Lake County Sullivan beat Rightmyer 75%-25% with 40 of 42 precincts reporting.

"I'm overwhelmed by your outpouring of support and honored to have the opportunity to serve you the next two years," said Sullivan. "Thank you constituents of House District 31. I'm looking forward to working hard to represent you well. Thank you for your investment and support."

"Unfortunately, I lost tonight," said Rightmyer. "However, I wanted to thank everyone (over 20,000) in District 31 who trusted me enough to cast their ballots in my favor. Overall, while disappointed in the result, it is encouraging to see just how many people took the time to exercise the all-important right to vote. I congratulate Jennifer Sullivan on her win tonight, and I wish her the best of luck for the next two-year term."
